The fourth generation piano: Pianoteq

What is Pianoteq?


Pianoteq emerged from academic research and resulted in what we call the fourth piano generation. This is the first and only piano available that belongs to this new generation. With respect to evolutionary generations of piano, remember that they are:

First generation: acoustic piano (1698)
Second generation: electro-acoustic piano (1929)
Third generation piano with sampled sounds of real piano (1984)
Fourth generation piano whose sound is shaped by the user (2006)
The fourth generation piano

The first generation of pianos began with Cristofori's piano in 1698 which found its apogee in the late nineteenth century with the acoustic grand pianos. In the twentieth century was followed by the second and third generation piano and electroacoustic samppleados model, in these pianos each note is a recording of how it sounds the instrument for a specific point in time, and does not take into account the complexity of same.

Pianoteq is the first and only piano belonging to the fourth generation, developed in order to go beyond the limits of the third generation and to make it a versatile and innovating tool. It is in fact the first virtual piano factory and the user can produce new brands and styles of piano, as well as copies of historical instruments.

Remember that this is a virtual piano that is, to be run on a computer and on which we can do all sorts of settings, from changing the consistency of the hammers to modify the sound to design our own long string scale.

Some features of this type of pianos

Intense
The piano creates the sound in real time while you are playing and takes into account all the complex factors that make the piano a vivid instrument, such as the interaction between strings, using the pedals, the cabin resonance or position hammers. It will be like if you had a real piano in front of you ... like you could lean on it and hit the strings!

These virtual pianos introduced new possibilities to adjust the piano sound as most prefer. Things hitherto reserved for piano tuners are possible directly from the interface. In seconds you can adjust the sound to a particular type of music or any style. The many options can be saved as a track which you can share with other Pianoteq users.

Expressive

All the detailed variations of tones found in this new generation, from the weakest pianissimo to the strongest fortissimo. What you express on your keyboard is actually also what you hear. The sound of even the weakest pianissimo is absolutely pure without any audible noise.

Suitable

Thanks to its modest system hardware requirements, Pianoteq is possible to install a modern laptop, convenient for walking musician. Its extremely small size (8 MB) and fast interface resulting in a tiny download time. Only a few movements with the mouse and start playing.
